Lyn joined Cardiff University's Mail Team three years ago having previously worked for the Security Team. It didn't take long before he found himself looking down the barrel of a rip-and-replace for both the Staff and Student email systems - around 8 thousand staff accounts to migrate from Groupwise, and 25 thousand students to migrate from Mercury/Pegasus. The new system of choice is, of course, Lotus Domino/Notes. Matt agreed to help! (Well, his computer was moved into the Mail Team office, and he was told he had to do it.) Matt had previously worked in application support and deployment, specialising in Assistive software. He's now fully converted to Server Monkey! From knowing virtually nothing about any Lotus software they had to design and implement Lotus Domino, Quickplace and Sametime services, whilst integrating all of the above with the existing LDAP and ID Management systems... And it had to work with Webshere portal as well! Cardiff University are now running Notes/Domino and Sametime 8.0.1 in production (upgrades from v7.x), pre-production and development, and as design partners, an 8.5 pre-Beta system! Matt and Lyn now both look much older than they should.
