For some time now, when people have opined that "Microsoft is more of an imitator than an innovator", I have largely agreed, though I have noted that there are exceptions. One of the most important has been Kim Cameron's work on "User-centric Identity". In this session I will attempt to summarize Kim's work and its impact. I will begin by describing the "identity" problem. I will then review Kim's seminal papers on:- "The Laws of Identity" and "The Identity Metasystem". I will then describe Kim's impact on Microsoft's previously broken approach to standards:- The "Microsoft's Open Specification Promise" Finally, I will look at the impact of Kim's work on the way "Identity" is now being handled both in Microsoft's historic on-premise offerings, and in the "Cloud".

Your organisation needs you to deliver application updates to your users quickly. At the same time, a clearly-defined process for versioning and delivery of applications is essential to ensure the integrity of your Development and Production environments. Sometimes these two requirements are in conflict; to do things right can take a little longer. During this session the procedures surrounding application versioning, testing & deployment will be discussed including new features in Teamstudio's build automation offering, Build Manager.
Admins learn to control your developers via ITIL Release Management processes to ensure that you deliver applications into production that meet business requirements in a timely and efficient manner. It may also reduce friction between your admins and developers and reduce the body count when developers want to introduce something into production.
